Refund Policy

This refund policy explains when money comes back to you: what happens to the diagnostic fee, how cancellations and returns are handled, and what we do if a repair does not hold. It covers every visit carried out by Bodewell Appliance Repair (“we”, “us”) in California and Florida. Five rules cover almost every situation, and they are set out below in the order they usually come up.

What this refund policy covers

This refund policy applies to the diagnostic fee, to visits that are canceled or rescheduled, to parts we order for your appliance and to repairs that do not hold. It does not replace the warranty a manufacturer offers on a part, and nothing in this refund policy limits the rights you have under consumer protection law.

Prices, warranty periods and payment methods for your job are the ones printed on your invoice. Where the invoice and this page differ, the invoice governs the job and this refund policy explains the reasoning behind it.

Rule 1 — the diagnostic fee

Every visit starts with a diagnostic: the appliance is tested as a complete system and the readings are compared against the manufacturer’s service tolerances. That is chargeable work, and the fee is quoted to you before a technician is dispatched.

If you approve the repair, the diagnostic fee is credited against the invoice. You do not pay for it twice.

If you decline the repair, the fee stands and is not refunded. It paid for the diagnosis, and the diagnosis is yours to keep: the cause, the parts involved and the price we quoted.

If we cannot complete the diagnosis for a reason on our side, the fee is refunded in full.

Rule 2 — cancellations and rescheduling

Tell us as early as you can and we move the appointment to another window at no cost. Rescheduling is never charged.

Cancel before the technician is dispatched and nothing is charged at all. If the technician has already arrived and cannot reach the appliance — no access to the unit, or to its power, water or ventilation connections — the visit is charged as a call-out.

Sometimes we are the ones who have to move a visit: a part arrives damaged, an earlier job overruns, the weather closes a route. You are told as soon as we know, and anything already paid toward that visit is either refunded or carried to the new date, whichever you prefer.

Rule 3 — parts, special orders and returns

Parts are ordered against your model and serial number, and only after you have approved the repair.

An unused stock part can be returned within 30 days of the invoice date in its original packaging. We refund what you paid for it, less any restocking fee the supplier charges us.

A part ordered specially for your model usually cannot be returned once it has shipped, because the manufacturer will not take it back. We tell you when a part falls into that category before you approve it, which is also why we may ask for payment for that part in advance.

A part we fitted that then fails is not a return. It is handled under warranty, which is Rule 4.

Rule 4 — when a repair does not hold

If the same issue comes back within the labor warranty period stated on your invoice, call us and we return. There is no second diagnostic fee for the same issue.

If we cannot make that repair hold, the labor charge for it is refunded. Parts stay subject to the warranty offered by their own manufacturer, and we help you claim against it.

A refund under this refund policy covers the repair we carried out. It does not extend to unrelated issues that appear later, to normal wear, to damage caused by misuse or by work carried out by others, or to an appliance that has been modified.

Rule 5 — how to ask for a refund

Call (844) 871-2894 or use the contact form with three things: the invoice number, the service address and one sentence about what went wrong.

We answer refund requests within three business days. Where a refund is due, it is returned by the method you paid within ten business days of that answer, and it always goes back to the person and the payment method named on the invoice.

If you are not satisfied with how we handled a request under this refund policy, say so — we would rather fix it than have you take it elsewhere. Appliance repair in California is regulated by the Bureau of Household Goods and Services, and Florida consumers can also raise a complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Changes to this refund policy

We may update this refund policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the date it was last revised shown at the top. The refund policy that applies to your job is the one published on the day of your visit.
